Welcome to
SHOMEA's Digital Bridge and Mentoring for Orphans
DBMO
Globally, over 2 billion children exist, and among them, 150 to 200 million are orphans, left without guardians. Regions with high orphan concentrations include Asia, the middle East, Latin America, and Africa. Orphanhood is a significant issue in Cameroon, with many children losing one or both parents due to factors such as HIV/AIDS, conflict, and poverty.
According to UNICEF, there were an estimated 1.4 million orphaned children in Cameroon in 2020, accounting for approximately 10% of the country’s child population.
These orphaned children face numerous challenges, including limited access to education, healthcare, and social support services.
At SHOMEA, we are dedicated to empowering orphaned and vulnerable children through education, mentorship, and digital literacy. Our Digital Bridge and Mentoring for Orphans (DBMO) Project aims to bridge the educational gap and provide essential life skills to orphaned children, preparing them for a brighter future.
